Great Western Manufacturing
Premier Pneumatics Inc., a member of the K-Tron Process Group
Full-scale testing and R&D laboratory
To confirm a customer’s required conveying rate and system
function, Premier’s full-scale testing and R&D laboratory will
perform a complete material analysis. A material sample from
the customer will be subjected to bulk density tests, sieve
analyses, photomicrographic tests (for particle size and
structure), and dynamic tests (for acceleration, velocity, and
friction factors) to determine any unique properties. A report
is given to the customer summarizing the results of the test
to determine the material’s characteristics and properties that
may affect its conveyance and storage. Premier Pneumatics
designs and manufactures complete material-handling
systems, components, and controls, ranging from manually
operated to PLC interfaces. Its skilled staff of engineers, technicians, and support personnel, in addition to its state-of-the-art manufacturing and engineering capabilities, enables
Premier to consistently deliver material-handling solutions.

K-Tron’s fully equipped test lab in Pitman, NJ, offers processors the
opportunity to conduct tests with process materials, answer critical
process questions, and determine the best configuration of feeding
equipment for a particular product or group of products. Consulting
services cover many areas, including testing with actual bulk material,
determining refill levels, testing feeding accuracy, long-term testing
of feeding systems, bin design and selection of flow-aid devices,
refill systems, mechanical and electrical interfaces, interfacing with
upstream and downstream systems, and validation. K-Tron’s testing
facility assists with projecting the return on investment by considering
the cost of the process material and the benefits of accurately
controlling the rate of the ingredient fed into the process. To arrange
for a material test, companies can visit the Web site.

Eriez Magnetics
Technical center
The
technical
center at
Eriez
Magnetics
is a
complete
laboratory
facility. The
lab has
more than 100 types of permanent-magnetic, electromagnetic, vibratory,
screening and electronic metal-detecting
equipment. This equipment separates,
concentrates, moves, feeds, detects, and
recovers a wide variety of materials. Since
it first went into operation in 1964,
technical-center personnel have conducted
thousands of application tests on all types
of materials and processes. The technical
center has recently expanded as a result
of company-wide growth and the introduction of new product lines. Its capabilities
include performing feasibility studies,
evaluation and scaling, pilot-plant testing,
and assays, and developing flowsheets.
Two additional process engineers have
been added, increasing the center’s staff
to 14 employees. Eriez encourages
customers to visit the technical center
to discuss their material-processing
problems and view tests.
