Pneumatic and mechanical test labs offer bulk handling
equipment and systems reconfigured to simulate customer
installations. Using customer-supplied bulk materials,
engineers and lab technicians can verify system performance before final equipment design and fabrication and
demonstrate newly constructed equipment before shipment.
Both test laboratories are also equipped with bulk bag
dischargers and fillers, manual dumping stations, automated
weigh batching systems, and other equipment designed to
interface with pneumatic and/or mechanical conveying systems.

statistics, particle size distribution, material degradation and air consumption, and
material flow characteristics can be determined reliably. Our facility can accommodate a
multitude of tests, including dense-phase pressure and vacuum, dilute-phase pressure
and vacuum, pneumatic blending, and bulk bag unloading. Customers may witness the
test or view a video of it. A comprehensive report is provided.

Dynamic Air Inc.
Test facility
The company’s updated comprehensive, state-of-the-art test
facility can perform full pneumatic conveying testing as well as
mixing, cooling, drying, coating, blending, lump breaking, bin
discharging, and high-accuracy feeding testing. Dynamic Air
offers 16 pneumatic conveying concepts, including dense-phase
and dilute-phase vacuum- and pressure-pneumatic conveying.
All dry-material characteristics are analyzed to determine their
exact handling- and product-performance values. Most tests are
fully instrumented and computerized using the latest in testing
software. A full evaluation can be provided, including equip-ment-performance criteria, efficiencies, hygroscopic effects,
buildup tendencies, respective velocities, material-to-air ratios,
capacity values, degradation issues, dust-collector requirements, optimum-pressures
requirements, filling times, air-volume requirements, bulk densities, and segregation.

CCE Technologies Inc.
Fluid-bed jet mills and centrifugal air classifiers
CCE Technologies designs and manufactures high-efficiency fluid-bed jet mills and centrifugal air classifiers.
It also maintains a complete testing and toll processing
facility. Equipment applications include most industrial dry
powders such as microfine abrasives, temperature-sensitive resins, glass powders, ultrafine aluminas, and
chromatographic column materials. The company’s
equipment is used for products that require discrete top
size control and narrow particle distributions. Pilot-scale
tests, including particle size analysis, determine equipment
sizing requirements and toll processing costs.

Minox/Elcan
Toll processing facility
Minox/Elcan has expanded its toll processing facility in
Mamaroneck, NY, to offer high-quality separations on many
different products. Customers can now send any quantity of
product to be screened on either the Minox tumbler screener
or the Kroosher multifrequency screener. These machines
specialize in difficult-to-screen products that cannot be
screened efficiently on conventional machines. Examples
include sticky products that blind screens, static products
that do not screen efficiently, very fine powder separations,
and delicate agglomerates that must be screened very gently. High efficiency levels offer
customers significantly increased yields of valuable product.

W.S. Tyler
Complete particle-analysis services
W.S. Tyler offers a complete package of laboratory services
for dry, fine, free-flowing particle analysis. Using cutting-edge
technology, its on-site working labs offer photooptical particle
distribution analysis, new and in-use test sieve certification,
performance matching, and an outsource corporate calibration program. All services are NIST traceable. The company’s
quality management system is ISO 9001:2000 registered. It
performs test sieve certification to ASTM and ISO specifications, including detailed documents, traceable to NIST.
Examinations are made with high-technology video imaging
equipment that can measure to ±0.5 μm. This equipment
views and measures more openings than many current industry-standard specifications
designate, providing enhanced statistical data. Particle distribution analysis is done using
traditional test sieves or the Haver/Tyler CPA photooptical size-and-shape analyzer. The CPA
features a software package that calibrates its optical data directly to traditional sieving
results. Test-sieve performance matching is a good choice for clients when accurate,
consistent results are required in multiple locations. The Corporate Calibration Program
features a customer-owned master test-sieve series. This set is very close to each nominal
sieve-opening designation, certified and supplied with detailed documents, and traceable
to NIST. The sieve set is then maintained in the on-site lab per the customer’s requirements.
All future test-sieve requirements are then matched and calibrated to the client’s master
series to a performance tolerance of ±2.5%. Tyler’s laboratory services are suitable for
companies with high-volume test-sieving environments, multiple analysis locations, and
programs involved with ISO 9000 or other quality management systems.
